1. In what ways does Bella identify with the third wife? Bella is a human, just like the third wife. She would sacrifice her life for Edward if he were being attacked by an evil vampire, just like the third wife gave her life for her beloved. That much was obvious to me the first time I read it, and then I got worried.

2. Could Taha Aki be alive today? Discuss theories. Ooo, I have thought about that. Surely if he were, he'd be somewhere around the Quileute tribe, right?

3. What do you think Jacob is hoping will change by taking Bella to the meeting? Man!!! He is SO sneaky, that Jacob Black! I think that by bringing Bella to the meeting, he's hoping that she will "come to her senses" and realize what she is doing by being with Edward. He's hoping that she will see the need for the wolves and realize that they and the vampires are true mortal enemies. It's just me, but I would have felt like I betrayed Edward for going.

4. Why is Bella so disturbed by the idea of Edward’s identification with Heathcliff? Hmm, I don't really know. I've never read "Wuthering Heights," and this small passage doesn't really clue me in to the characters of that story.

1. In what ways does Bella identify with the third wife?

She wants to be able to protect the ones she loves. She sees the 3rd wife as the heroine of the story how she sacrifices herself for the others. She has already shown that she will sacrifice herself for Edward, and she would do the same for jake as well. She doesn't see her life as valuable and will not think twice about sacrifice herself for someone else.

2. Could Taha Aki be alive today? Discuss theories.

He could be, but I doubt it. The story said that he loved his 3rd wife, and he was the one he decided to grow old with. This seems like this was the woman that he imprinted on. If she died I think he would be like Edward, he wouldn't want to live without her. So no I think he probably went off and died.

3. What do you think Jacob is hoping will change by taking Bella to the meeting?

Well I think he wants her to understand him more. I also think he wants her to hear the story of the vampire to possibly scare her away from the cullens or atleast make her realize vampires are bad. He will try anything to get her away from edward and to stay with him.

4. Why is Bella so disturbed by the idea of Edward’s identification with Heathcliff?

It basically says that Edward wants to kill Jacob and hates him with the passion of 1000 suns, but won't touch him because Bella wants to be with him, and he won't do anything to hurt Bella, so basically if she didn't want to bother with jake anymore, he would be vampire lunch lol.

1. In what ways does Bella identify with the third wife?
The third wife was just a mortal, up against immortals, but she was able to save her whole tribe by sacrificing herself. Bella craves that kind of power, she wants to do what she can to help.

2. Could Taha Aki be alive today? Discuss theories.
I didn't think about it too hard, honestly. xD

3. What do you think Jacob is hoping will change by taking Bella to the meeting?
He may be trying to turn her against vampires, although he's seriously stupid if he thinks that will work xD

4. Why is Bella so disturbed by the idea of Edward’s identification with Heathcliff? The page Edward was reading was Heathcliff talking about another man that Catherine loved. Heathcliff says that he would never hurt the other man as long as Catherine was alive, because it would hurt her-but if she ceased to exist, he would love to kill the man. The other man is representative of Jacob, and Bella doesn't like to think that Edward and Jacob would kill each other if she were to die.

1. In what ways does Bella identify with the third wife?
Well its just the fact that she would be willing to risk her life to save the one she loved. She never asked to be brought into the world where vampires and werewolves existed.
2. Could Taha Aki be alive today? Discuss theories.
He could be. Since he left in his spirit form, he could still be out there.
3. What do you think Jacob is hoping will change by taking Bella to the meeting?
Maybe she will understand more about the werewolves. That maybe she will think its safer to be with them, than to be with a bunch of vampires. Better yet, that it was safer if she was with him..
4. Why is Bella so disturbed by the idea of Edward’s identification with Heathcliff?
Im not sure. I've never really read Wuthering Heights before. And im not that familiar with the character. But from the little passage in the book on page 266. I can see Edward in that 100%.

1. In what ways does Bella identify with the third wife?
She is willing to sacrifice her life to save the man she loves. :(

2. Could Taha Aki be alive today? Discuss theories.
I don't think so... I think he probably ended up completely giving up his wolf form, grew old, and died.

3. What do you think Jacob is hoping will change by taking Bella to the meeting?
I'm not sure. The way he sees the Vampires... the way she sees the Wolves? Both. Either? I don't really know.

4. Why is Bella so disturbed by the idea of Edward’s identification with Heathcliff?
I think she might have realized when she read the passage she had been reading just how hard he was willing to fight. But how willing he was to honor whatever decision she made. It makes it sound like, while he is passionate in his love for her, he would be willing to just give up, if it's what she wanted.

1. In what ways does Bella identify with the third wife?

The both are a normal human being with no powers at all and they both are willing to sacerfice their own life for the person that they love.

2. Could Taha Aki be alive today? Discuss theories.

I don't think he is alive. His wife died and he was able to go kill the cold woman so he had nothing left to live for.

3. What do you think Jacob is hoping will change by taking Bella to the meeting?

He wants her to understand the reason why werewolfs do what they do. Why Jared imprinting a 2 year old like Kim is not as disturbing as it would seem. More importantly, he wants Bella to know why the werewolfs hate vampires so much.

4. Why is Bella so disturbed by the idea of Edward’s identification with Heathcliff?

She doesn't feel confortable being the only reason why Jacob is living. She doesn't even want to think of Edward as a killer.

1. In what ways does Bella identify with the third wife?
She feels like she is helpless and when she hears about what the third wife did she sees something that she thinks she can do that will help.

2. Could Taha Aki be alive today? Discuss theories.

I think that he could be.

3. What do you think Jacob is hoping will change by taking Bella to the meeting?
That she will see a bad/evil side to vampires.

4. Why is Bella so disturbed by the idea of Edward’s identification with Heathcliff?
I have not read Wuthering Heights yet, but from what I know I think that Heathcliff is supposed to be evil right? Bella loves Edward so much and she sees him as such a selfless person and she must not see any similarities between the two.

1. In what ways does Bella identify with the third wife?

Bella always feels like she is the one who has to be saved. When she hears the story about a normal human being helping save the one she loves, she has a hope that she can do they same to save Edward if she has too.

2. Could Taha Aki be alive today? Discuss theories.

It is a possiblity, but I highly doubt it. If he had, I would think that the pack would pride in it and tell of it.

3. What do you think Jacob is hoping will change by taking Bella to the meeting?

Jake hopes that Bella will enjoy her time with the pack more than she does with the Cullens. Again, it is just to try to get her to choose him over Edward.

4. Why is Bella so disturbed by the idea of Edward’s identification with Heathcliff?

Heathcliffe is played out to be on evil charcter and Bella cannot stand to here Edward, her angel, compare himself to him. And she hates being the only thing that is keeping Edward from going after Jake.

1. In what ways does Bella identify with the third wife?
-Bella, like the third wife, is just a regular human who is in love with someone who is not human. The third wife is also the one who saves the person she loves, and Bella identifies with that because she wants to be able to save Edward and his family like the third wife was able to do.

2. Could Taha Aki be alive today? Discuss theories.
-I think it said in the book that Taha Aki had died.

3. What do you think Jacob is hoping will change by taking Bella to the meeting?
-I think Jacob wanted Bella to understand more about the wolves history and how much it meant to everything who was at the meeting.

4. Why is Bella so disturbed by the idea of Edward’s identification with Heathcliff?
-Bella doesn't like thinking that Edward thinks of himself as evil, and also she doesn't like that the only reason Jacob is still alive is because Edward doesn't want to hurt Bella by killing him.
