I went in expecting it to be so-so (given that I loved the book so, and that the budget was only 35 mill). I was very pleasantly surprised. There were things I wish were different. I missed Blood Typing. I felt the rest of the Cullens should have had bigger roles. I am undecided about the sparklage. I didn't like the flashbacks. But there was SO MUCH that I loved, it overrides that. I loved the Cullens' entrance, the kiss, the prom, everything about Charlie, Billy, and Mike, and - oh yeah - Vampire baseball (my favorite part of the movie). I thought Rob's 'if looks could kill' was terrifying. I thought the music choices were great (the prom song made me misty and I bounced in my seat during Supermassive Black Hole came on). While reading the book, I loved the kind of ironic humor throughout, and I loved that humor was a big part of the movie.

I went with a group of 16 to the 7:00 show. Even the boys in the group loved it. I wasn't sure that they would, but they said they want to see it again. I am going to see it again tomorrow if my chest cold doesn't warp into pneumonia (which it often does with me :( )

Well there's definitely something to be said for remaining unspoiled. I didn't, and the movie felt more like a patchwork of all the scenes, photos and behind-the-scenes stuff that I'd previously seen online, so it kinda ruined the experience for me. I'll remember that for New Moon... Because I'd seen so many snipets of scenes, I kept noticing when they didn't use the same take (ie, although it looked similar, the actors' voice or tone was different in that take) as the ones I'd seen online and I kept wondering why scenes like "Do you do this a lot?" (dazzle people--in the restaurant) that we saw in trailers and ads weren't actually in the movie!

I liked the movie but I can't say I loved it. Many parts of the book that I love and/or think are important for the flow of the story weren't in there. The way Kristen speaks--whether as Bella or herself in interviews--is always so labored and it ended up stressing me out a little. I thought Rob was fantastic, although I agree that the nose-plugging reaction wasn't accurate or necessary, but I think they need to hire a makeup continuity specialist for the next movie because he never looked the same in every scene. Sometimes he was really white, sometimes his face looked the same color as humans.

I loved Charlie! That scene when Bella leaves him about broke my heart. I also loved Alice, Rosalie, Emmet and Esmee. Carlisle doesn't look like the handsome person he is described to be (he looks like a guy who dyes his hair blond and doesn't have the complexion to match it) and Jasper just looked awkward. I think the evil vampires all did a great job, and my gosh, Victoria is just beautiful! The waitress in Port Angeles was supposed to be attractive, to make it even more obvious that Edward only has eyes for Bella, but that hairdo? Oh my. No wonder he didn't look at her.

The storyline felt a little disjointed to me and I wish they had just used lines straight out of the book instead of rewriting bad ones. The camera work was awkward at the end of the meadow scene when it just panned up into the trees. Also, I know they had a really hard time with the sparkling skin thing but I too thought the special effects just made Edward look fuzzy instead of sparkly.

I now understand why Bella was wearing only underwear and a t-shirt in the kissing scene--she wasn't expecting Edward to show up. I still didn't think it was necessary to show her in her underwear, so I question the judgement of the person who made that call. If my brand new boyfriend showed up in my room and I was wearing just underwear, I would probably put on a pair of shorts or try to cover up a bit.

I loved the baseball scene and wish it had lasted longer! Alice looked awesome. On the other hand, the werewolves/vampire treaty flashback scene looked so cheap I wish they hadn't even tried to make them look like werewolves. Were those wolf masks they were wearing on top of their heads? Please. Let's hope the New Moon budget allows them to make the wolves look a little more realistic.

Overall, I think they could have added a 1/2 hour of footage--which I'm pretty sure nobody would have complained about--and made the movie feel less disjointed. It would also have allowed them to include important lines and scenes that I would have loved to see and felt were sorely missing from the plot.

I did wear my huge crystal heart necklace to the showing and got lots of compliments on it! If you want one, visit my online store at http://www.norianesbijoux.etsy.com

Well that's all I can think of for now. I am really interested in finding out what the rest of you guys thought of the movie.

I have an avi file on my computer of that. I really think he is snapping his fingers, though I can't be 100% sure.

Hello,
This is my first post. I had to comment on this 1 little thing. The baseball scene- was fantabulous! BUT did anyone notice how Rob gave Kellan the finger after they fell to the ground?? (he was smiling while he did it). I wasn't sure while watching the movie, but I saw it again on u-tube today and now I am almost positive. I was hoping someone else saw this because I am starting to think I am crazy because no one else has mentioned it!

I am going to see the movie again tomorrow and will have more thoughts then :D

The first time I saw it, I wanted to love it, but was so conflicted about the stuff that was changed that I wasn't sure if I enjoyed it really.

I loved the comedy, and I loved a lot of the subtle nods to the audience (like the comment about the wolves descending at the prom -- made me giggle). What I didn't like the first time was the pacing. It seemed so rushed and the romance seemed almost contrived (as in, one second he hates her, and the next second he's in love? At least in the book that was fleshed out quite a bit).

That said, seeing it the second time really made me realize how much I really did enjoy it. The first time, I think I was concentrating so hard on seeing what was the same, and what was different, that I never gave myself a chance to really enjoy it for what it was -- a 2 hour film adaptation of a beautiful novel that I loved.

When I saw it the second time, I knew what to expect, so things that seemed ridiculous to me the first time (like Edward practically vomiting on the table when he first catches Bella's scent in Biology) didn't seem quite so over-the-top. It looked less like he was about to vomit and more like he was taken off-guard by her scent, which to me, really matched up nicely with the book. And of course, it was important that they illustrate that it was her scent that was bothering him, for those three people in the country who haven't read the book

I was also able to appreciate the pacing a little better the second time. The first time I saw it, it felt so rushed to me only because of how much had been cut. The second time, however, I definitely appreciated the fact that movie could have really dragged in the beginning had they not hit the ground running like they did. And even the Reveal/Meadow Scene was good to me the second time. The first time, I thought it was so stupid that she'd just kind of wandered into the woods from the parking lot and he followed her, but the second viewing allowed me to better appreciate how Bella had been tormented all night about her suspicions, and how it had obviously been bothering her all day when she made up her mind to confront Edward about it and that it made more sense to confront him about it somewhere "safe" and out of sight.

I was also able to pay more attention to the fact there were several scenes where Edward and Bella were talking at length (without audible dialogue), which helped to illustrate that it wasn't just a case of "I hate you, no wait I love you", but rather that they really did have a chance to get to know each other.

And I really, really liked the kissing scene  :D Maybe a little too much haha I admit, it was a little.... more.... for lack of a better word, than I'd pictured in the book, but I appreciated that it illustrated the idea that Edward really did have to struggle to maintain his control around her. Had he not pushed her down on the bed like he did before he abruptly pulled away, it could have seemed that he wasn't nearly as interested as he was, simply because most of the other kissing/self-restraint scenes were cut in the transition of book to screen.

So yeah, I liked it :) I will definitely be going to see it again, and I will also be getting it on BluRay when it comes out (and am eagerly awaiting the deleted scenes!)

I can't wait to see New Moon :D I hope the bigger budget will allow for a longer movie, and that they won't scrimp on the effects (especially of my beloved Wolfpack!)

My only problem is Kristen (...) She just looked pained the whole time, and always sounded breathless. It seems the only emothion she can do is angst, and thats pretty much it, and I don't think she smiled...at all.
I agree. Too much scowling, too much angst. She is incredibly pretty, though, which balanced the two, but she really stressed me out. I don't like watching her interviews either. She has a hard time expressing herself and has a lot of nervous anxiety that really ends up irritating me.

Wow you took the words right out of my mouth, and you did it with much better spelling than i would have!

I couldn't have agreed more with anything you said.

The movie did feel almost like a lot of trailers put together. I don't know if that was because i had seen them all so many times or because it truly just didn't flow well. I didn't like Kristen's performance much. She seemed to just not care, i never felt that she was really all that in love with Edward.

She did the whole kissing scene well enough, that was done great.. although i'm going to put that credit on Rob's shoulders.. he was hot in that scene.

There were so many small scenes that were cut that would have given a non Twilight reader so much better insight into everything. The character that, in my opinion, came across 100% true to the book was Roselie.
"Her existence alone was excuse enough to justify the creation of the entire world."

And, by the way, I adore you... in frightening, dangerous ways.

I loved Kristen! I honestly thought she out-acted Rob..(I know..sorry)

Cons:
Too fast
I didn't think Bella would have been brave enough to skip class to walk up into the woods and confront Edward...
Some close up shots were just too annoying for me...Did anyone else feel like they needed to step back cause they were invading the actor's personal space?
Some of Rob's expressions were....weird. And it was also weird that he covered his nose in biology cause he could just stop breathing...
I thought some of the added scenes were a little unnecessary and could have been omitted for scenes that followed the book a little more closely (ie the field trip scene...I know they did it to make it a bit more interesting cause we were always in the cafeteria, parking lot or biology...but still...)

Pros:
Kristen nailed it
Tyler nailed it
Lion and the lamb scene was spot on
sparkle was better than i expected
When Bella left Charlie I about died!
Baseball scene was pefect
Kiss was NICE N SLOW lol
loved the Charlie and Billy Black one liners
loved the wolf comment Edward made
the ballet studio was sooo good i thought it would be a little weak, but wasnt
i loved when they showed the two of them together in the snow in the sucking of the arm scene!
i loved how they kept all the important points in!

Oh my theres so much to say about the movie! I don't think I'll remember it all.

The funniest thing was when Edward kissed Bella this little girl was like "Ewww" and everyone started laughing. I still don't get the whole Edward flying thing but overall the movie was great!

I loved the ending. The baseball scene was fantastic. And the fight scene killed! Literally lol. I love Alice breaking James' neck. lol

And Jasper was seriously sooo cute! His expressions were priceless. I can see why Alice loves him so much. Hehe. I loved how they put some humor into it. And I loved the Bella/Charlie relationship. They did it so well! And when Bella leaves and yells at Charlie, I wanted to cry. It was sad haha.

Oh man thats all I can think of now. My mind is racing. I only just got home from seeing it. Ahhh =)

EDIT: I can't believe I forgot..the meadow scene and the sparkling was pretty sweet. Also the "lion and the lamb" part was soooo well done!

To me it felt like their love didn't get to develop in the movie. It was so sporadic and random. There weren't enough "sweet" moments between Bella and Edward, so we the audience don't get the full extent of how much they love each other. The "You are my life now." statement almost seemed out of place because the intensity of Bella and Edward's love isn't clearly displayed in the film. In the hospital, I was expecting Bella to say "It's just a crush, mom." line because, in all honesty, that's what it felt like. From the audience's standpoint, I couldn't get myself to believe that Edward and Bella truly loved each other. It felt more like die-hard infatuation. I hope that the producers and directors of New Moon can(with the limited time) make Bella and Edward's love for each other a bit more evident and believable.
