I find the movie Edward too rough with Bella. Or is it just me?

I mean, in the books, Edward is always gentle as Bella is very delicate to him. In the movie, he was pulling her and all. I can't remember which scene was it.

That too, cassis_rose.
Unfortunately it was the meadow scene that he was rough with her. And really, that was the only time that he was like that. Otherwise I do think that he was a gentleman, but that scene he just was very blunt.

I noticed that, and thought the same thing. In the "meadow" scene I mean, lol. The part when he was all pulling her saying she had to see him in the sunlight....

But then...

I was reading Twilight, and the part where he was almost dragging her to his car after blood typing, so it made me think that even though he didn't pull her around in the meadow scene, maybe it wasn't so out of character, you know?

EDIT - also, as strong as he is supposed to be, I think that he really wasn't using too much force in that scene, or in any scene for that matter. Could be wrong here, but I almost laughed when I read the part when he's pulling her to his car, refusing to let her drive, because I totally thought of the scene in the movie

I think what made it odd is that even when he's manhandling her, Edward is still thinking about how she's as fragile as a soap bubble. That was what was lost in the scenes in the movie when Edward was being a bit more rough.

That's true. I guess because I know Edward from the books so well, I just see it as him being the slightly pushier Edward at times, and not being too rough. It does sort of look harsh though.... :?

I'm probably not making sense, lol, but hopefully you guys get where I'm coming from. You're right though, about the fact that he might be pushy at times, but in the books you see that he is still being gentle

I think maybe he would. It fit really well. When I was watching the movie, I swore up and down that he had said "You can Google it," in the book. I was shocked when I found that it wasn't in the book. It seemed Edward-y to me. Like it was his poor attempt to be modern.

I agree. I thought the Google line was funny and actually fit pretty well. It's almost as if Edward said it a little awkwardly, and a little forced, as if he's trying to fit in with today's teens.

Billy's much better at being down with the kids than Edward, though.
