Re: Has Twilight affected your reading habits?
I read all the time, but now it's really hard to find a book with the depth of emotion that SM brings to Twilight! It's just so good and when I go to find other books, I automatically compare them to Twilight now... I guess I'm holding them to higher standards now.

Re: Has Twilight affected your reading habits?
I am an obsessive reader. When I start a book it is very, very hard for me to put it down. Most books I love, I read in one sitting - even if I've read them before. Somewhere in the middle of my third go on Eclipse (before BD came out) I just started slowing down. I don't know why. Maybe it was the realization that it was coming to an end and I wanted to prolong it. Maybe. All I know is that since then, I have slowed a lot when reading. I did read BD in one day. But I actually put it down and slept a little in the middle. Unheard of for me. And it then took me two weeks to read it two more times. Completely unheard of for me!
After I read Harry Potter, I vowed that I would never again be sucked into a book series that wasn't already finished. Of course, I fell into Twilight (which amazed me because I never thought I'd find another book I loved as much as HP and to find two in such a short time period.... ) and so the waiting started again. Now that I can take it slower, I hope that I can read new books even if the entire series isn't completed. I really hate waiting. Between JKR and SM I swear I have heart problems. But maybe that won't be the case now that I've found I can enjoy taking my time reading a book.

I've never really been into the romance type books, but now I find myself checking books to make sure they have some sort of par romance. Though none will ever compare to Twilight.

vegasn8ive, you sound like a kindred spirit... especially in your second paragraph!! My husband was really irritated that I so quickly became dragged into another set of books.vegasn8ive wrote:I am an obsessive reader. When I start a book it is very, very hard for me to put it down. But, to the original topic, yes, Twilight has changed my reading habits. In particular, I'm not really a fan of pure fantasy... HP and Twilight are ok because they are grounded in the "real world" and don't introduce entirely new languages and things like that. I didn't like LotR (the books) really and that was a small part of why. However, I made it a project to see how many of Steph's favorites I could read this summer, and some of them were ones I would have never picked up but REALLY loved. Particularly the DragonRiders of Pern series. She definitely had some pieces in The Host and BD that hearkened back to McCaffrey's work, which was really cool to be able to pick out. I even re-read Julius Caesar after reading The Host because she said there was a nod to it in there, but I still disliked it just as much as I had before, hehee. I liked Rebecca, and it was one that never appealed to me enough to pick up. But since I enjoyed some of them so much, I'm going to pick up the Orson Scott Card ones she likes and some others that she has mentioned to see if I like them (or if I can guess at future plots!).
StephenieSays... because she rocks all the time. Duh.
Wanna see MTV take me out of context? Whoohoo.

Re: Has Twilight affected your reading habits?
Absolutely!!!! Before this I was into comics and such. Started reading this and could not put it down. Got 4 people from work reading tem as well. I don't know what it is but, I finsihed the whole saga, tried to read another book called 'Carpe Demon' but, half way through i had to go back and re-read Breaking Dawn. Now, every book I read (The Host at the moment) I try to give my full attention but, waaaaay back in the darkest recesses of my mind sits that little saga and it is just scratching away at my brain, making it very hard to concentrate on any other book.

Re: Has Twilight affected your reading habits?
I read a lot, mainly during the school year, though, and when there is a long awaited book out. But now whenever I have no book to read, I always have one of the Twilight books with me to reread. So it has slightly affected my reading habits.

Affected?
It's pretty much made other reading impossible.
I have this HUMONGOUS list of books I really want to read, but whenever I go to read them, I keep reading Twilight over and over and over...and over.
