I don't think they know yet, but I've been hearing things about Steven Strait around here.... don't get me wrong, he would make a great Jacob, but I just love Taylor too much. He was such a great Jacob in the first movie. I dunno about his physical appearance, but he was just so eager. And just because he's a sweet and innocent teen in real life doesn't mean he can't play Jacob in NM! That's where his acting skills come in. :|

As for Chris Weitz, I totally agree!!! I wish they could have kept Catherine Hardwicke. :( has anyone here seen the Golden Compass? If you have, how was it, and how close was it to the book?

Guys, calm down. The Golden Compass was changed because of its "controversial" subject matter. There's nothing about New Moon that needs to be changed to avoid offending anybody. I think the look of the movie was great and he did the best he could with such drastic changes to the story. You should check out About A Boy if you're feeling apprehensive. It's another book adaptation and it's a really great movie. A year ago at this time we were all freaking out over Rob. Let's give Chris Weitz a chance too. He took the time to write a letter and try to reassure us. He could end up making New Moon a really great movie!

I feell exactly the same.
About a Boy is one of my all time fave movies and I know CW will make an amazing movie that we're all gonna love!

Yeah, Golden Compass was crap. The books are FANTASTIC though, so go read them. But the movie was bad because the studio that made it didn't have the balls to actually stick to the story line because it's "controversial." I think that CW is a great choice (although I will miss CH's enthusiasm and obvious passion for the books).

It's really reassuring that SM seems to be behind CW. And CW's letter seemed pretty from the heart to me. So we'll see.

Still no word on Tay... ugh...

Hey - has anyone noticed the views versus posts on this subject and Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black?
Just makes me think someone is watching . . .
Also, some have been posting open letters to Mr. Weitz on the imdb.com message board. Here is a link:

TEAM TAYLOR!

I agree if you don't support it then don't see it, but I don't feel so blasé about that. I mean what a BIG disappointment for Twilight fans to feel that way. I think it's worthy of complaints. Someone finally took the bait to turn these books into movies (yay Summit), but now some people feel that it's ruining them (boo Summit).

Personally, I'm not holding my breath for a great movie. I felt that way before I even knew NM was official though. All of this speculation just adds to my doubts. Oh well, time will tell.
See to me, Summit is making a movie like any studio wants to make a movie. They decide they want some changes, whether that works for me or not, it's not my business. It's their movie, they have their rights. i am a fan of the twilight sage the book medium, Summit is adapting it. If they do a nice movie, then you know that's great, if they mess it up, that's fine. I don't care, it will be like any movie I went to see in the theatre that i have a bad opinion on (like hairspray. what a waste of my money. i want a damn refund)

So far, i am content with Summit's choices, and I can live. it's not like my life depends on them if they replace Taylor!
Taylor is a good actor but in no way is he Jacob from new moon. and if they decide to KEEP Taylor, i think it can also work but it will invovle a ton of $$ that i doubt Summit wants to spend.

Of course they have the right to make whatever changes they deem necessary. That doesn't mean we can't complain about those decisions, especially if we feel they're ruining something good. That is, after all, our right. I'm not saying I personally agree or disagree with Summit's current choices. I'm just saying I understand people's concern since adapting Twilight into movies is a pretty big deal for us. As for the whole Jacob issue, I wasn't referring to that in my post, and I don't really care either way. Who said their life depends on these movies? I will definitely live if NM is another disappointment like Twilight...but I'll still be disappointed. Nothing more, nothing less.

On a happier note, it was great to read that letter from Chris (http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/index.html). I really think he'll blow Hardwicke out of the water.

^well i understand why people are complaining - they are passionate about the film. but i think taking it as far as "hate mails" and talking trash about summit is way way way too far (trust me, i've read the "trash")

hun, that wasn't a reply to your post (my paragraph about taylor) there's a reason it is in a separate line. I was just saying...

Guys! The script is done. If something is wrong with the script then Melissa messed it up, not Chris I think Chris directing can be a good thing! He has more special effects under his belt. He did not mess up the Golden Compass, the script writer that adapted it did. The director can not change the script! Bits here and there, that's it. Know something about the way movies work before you get your panties in a bunch.
