Here's one, How well do you think SM wrote the male roles in her story?

She wrote guys to look like a gril wants a guy to look like, same for how they acted in the book.

Edward's the ideal boyfriend with that dangerous element for some thrills.

Carlisle is the ideal dad.

Emmett is the ideal big brother.

And Jasper is the ideal "bad guy who's reforming his ways" type.

Of course, they're not perfect. Well, Carlisle and Emmett, maybe.

I agree with this. Carlisle is pretty much a perfect, selfless guy (with no flaws). Emmett is pretty much the typical big brother type. However, while I disagree a tad with other male characters, I always thought that SM did a really good job with Jacob because she nailed a lot of the emotions of a teenager growing up, loving something they can't have, being jealous of someone, etc.

Carlisle has his own flaws, he just has had 300+ years to learn to work around them. He wasnt always immune to the smell, it is a learned trait, he was very lonely until he has collected a family around him. He doesnt have a power above normal vampiric.

Now more important then all that, he is content in his current state, which is far better then most of the world.
