Oh, new twiguy, welcome! Misty, that would mean you're no longer oldest (she falls of the wagon in august, I refuse to let her go) I'm Ninna, 25 from Finland. Hope you like it here!
Thanks all for the welcome guys. I'm trying to get my wife to join up too - she got me into Twilight - one of the many things I am thankful to her for.
Is there a way to get the list you speak of there?

is that based on the Medea from the ancient Greek legens (she appears in a few, such as Jason and the Argonauts) - she killed her own children to spite Jason for leaving her (they were his kids too). There is a great song about her called "The Black Medea", by a band called "Black Like Vengeance", but it is death metal, so perhaps you may not appreciate it (maybe, but I assume metal is a genre who's popularity is in the minority on this board).

Arrr, one of my favourite topics!!!
I have 5 (well, 4, because two of them are a mirror image of each other with a few differences) and I am getting a Koi on my right shoulder next saturday.
you can see my tattoos (both finished and in progress) on my flickr account -
http://www.flickr.com/photos/26181870@N ... 964129849/
I will explain a few
The one on my back (the skull with the banner and guitar heads and burning drum sticks) is the logo of my website. I live for all types of music, but mainly metal.
The burning match on my wrist signifies the fact that small things cause big trouble - in my case, when I was about 5 years old, a week after my new-born sister died of complications from a malformed heart, I was playing with matches and set my little brother's bedroom on fire. Could have been such a worse week for my family if the flames had not been seen . . .
The infinity symbol in black field represents forever, and is for my kids. The infinity symbol also glows under UV light.
The feet are also for my kids. They represent protection, in life, and in death. They are a skull with a winged helmet (the original artwork can be found in that flickr link), and a woman's face with the same helmet - the woman's face was done freehand by my tattooist.
The feet have yet to be finished.
There is more to come as well. The one I am having done this saturday is the start of a water-themed sleeve on my right arm, featuring Koi (Goldfish). One will be transforming into a dragon.
The water theme on my right will be capped off with a large sea-horse on my right flank. This represents my oldest daughter. She is an aquarian (the water theme), and was born in the chinese year of the horse - hence a sea horse.
The left side of my body will represent my other daughter, and will be themed around fire. The left arm will have a phoenix and a dragon, although I won't have them at odds (ie fighting), but in unison, representing strength for my family.
The left flank will consist of a Lamasuu - I don't expect many people to know what this is. Her starsign is Taurus (Bull), and she was born in the chinese year of the rooster. So, a Lamasuu (which is from Babylonian mythology) is a winged bull, similar in idea to a pegasus being a winged horse.
To top it all off, I will get a chest piece consisting of a heart that is either locked in something, with light radiating out, or it will have three padlocks embedded in it - representing my wife and two kids - the only ones who can unluck my heart (that seems a little corny, but hey, that's the way I feel about my family). There will be three keys included in the artwork - one between the seahorse and the heart, with the key mechanism in the shape of the first letter of my eldest daughter's name. The left key will be between the lamasuu and the heart, and the mechanism of this one will be in the shape of the first letter of her name.
There will also be a key over the heart, with the mechanism in the shape of the first letter of my wifes name, and the decorative end will be a claddagh symbol (Irish people and Buffy fans will recognise this symbol, and it's meaning).
There will be others for my legs (I intend to be very covered in the areas not visible at work), but since the lot I just described will take so long, I'll plan those much later (I'm thinking a werewolf on one leg, and a vampire on the other - these are mythological strengths I have felt an affinity with for a very long time; one of the things drawing me to Twilight).
gees - that was long. yet more to come too . . .
Tabs wrote:Pharmer4, welcome to the Gen Y lexily. It's great to have another Twiguy, and especially one from Aus. Oh, I forgot to introduce myself.
I'm Tabitha, I'm 28 and I live in Perth, Western Australia. Although I'm moving to LA for a year in about five weeks. Whooooo! I'm a medical student here, and I was really interested when I read about the asthma program thing you were talking about. I didn't know they were doing anything like that? You'll have to tell me about it. (If that's ok)
Thanks for the welcome Tabs. Glad to find others in the medical field here too, especially aussies. I personally made a very early decision not to go into Medicine, as I had always planned on having my family early. Even though being a pharmacist is important to me, my family comes first; medicine needs a bigger commitment of time than I could give it.
On to the asthma programme - firstly, it is only occuring in NSW, Vic, and QLD. It is similar to the Diabetes Management Assistance Service, which is in second-stage trials now, and I believe these trials are Australia wide.
The point is to attempt to increase a patients understanding of their condition; the end point being increased knowledge about your condition increases your compliance with treatment, and ability to adjust to symptoms as needed, which increases your health and reduces the overall cost to the health system. I do three appointments over 6 months, while they still see their doctors, asthma educator (if available), etc - it's all collaborative as far as emparting knowledge goes. I also get them to do some spirometry test, which is great, since I specialised in Asthma care at Uni, and until now, have had little chance to utilise these skills.
So, there you go, hope I didn't miss any specific responses to me.
Jasmine, I know you asked me here what metal bands I like - I suggest you check back in the metal thread, and while there, don't be intimidated by the young girl Camber - she seems to be one of those people more interested in the image of being a metal fan, more than really appreciating the music, which is always a shame. Hopefully she proves me wrong!!!
I guess I really have a lot to say, cause I'm still not done.
The last thing I wanted to chat about was my house - It's all rolling along well, with the building inspection coming in today, with only very very minor issues (things like some tiling needing to be extended, some waterproof sealing going in) - the pest inspection is all good. Finance is all good. The price has been agreed upon. It's now all down to the lawyers. Hooray for the lawyers (and I'm being sincere!!!)
