Well I just finished the first Vampire Diaries book. I thought it would be better than it was. I haven't read much teen fic.. but since Twilight was I thought I'd give some of the others a shot. I like that the Twilight Saga seemed a lot more mature. Do any of the other Vampire Diaries books get better? It wasn't bad, just not nearly as good, in my opinion, as SMs books.

I read Vampire Diaries over the summer, while waiting for Breaking Dawn.
It was the only 'vampire' story besides Twilight that I've heard of, so I wanted to try it.

Of course, it will never be as great as the Twilight Saga, but the story itself is pretty strong too.
The characters had their own personality and the plots were intense.

I read Vampire Diaries, to be honest, because it was another 'vampire' story.
I didn't have any clue how the story was gonna go and stuff, but I basically read it while waiting for Breaking Dawn over the summer.
But it was very captivative as well.
Just read it for the story.

Oh! And the second one was great. I loved it<3

I'm in chapter 11 of The Awakening and the Struggle. I had to stop to read a book for school, but I'm going to start back up when I'm done with the school book. I really like it so far. I already bought The Fury and the Dark Reunion. :-)

I love L. J. Smith!
And I like that her publishers are re-releasing all her books.
I never really got into the Vampire Diary ones though... (don't hate me) I much prefered all the Night World ones, and the Secret Circle trilogy as they had witches!!
But her vampires are way cool. And they don't like shapeshifters either! :D
But she is a great writer. I knew of her a long time before the Twilight books, but I can see the similarities. And can love both!!

Are the night world novels a bit more adult? I haven't picked any of them up yet, but I'm considering it.

I don't think so.
They still basically deal with the whole romantic aspects... with a bit of violence, trouble and angst thrown in.

The series starts with one about a vampire though, and cancer.

As far as her Nightworld series go, are they kinda like same idea as Vampire Diaries, like still YA geared?

On that note has anyone read her Forbidden Games triology?
