What do you think would have happened in this chapter if Bella had suddenly professed her love for Domward, out loud?
Honestly, I think it would have made things worse. Domward would never have believed that she could love him. He's lied to her, believes he's manipulated her. Can't remember if this is book or movie, "That's because you believe the lie/Everything about me draws you in".
If she told him she loved him, he would only hate himself more. Bookward knew that Bookbella loved him but he still left. Let's face it, our --wards are idiots with one track minds. They get silly ideas about unworthiness and being monster, they completely disregard anything anyone else says that tells them otherwise.
Why did Domward offer to recommend other Doms?
From previous chapters I got the impression that Domward believes SubBella only wants him for the D/s relationship, that she couldn't possibly want more from him, not that he'd believes he could give it. Domward is concerned about her needs, but he can only understand the physical ones.
This is the weirdest (and only) book club I've ever been in
You guys were awesome with all the insightful comments on The Dominant. Discussing all this great stuff actually made me feel a little more scholarly and a little less smutty.
More Spoilers for The Dominant
As far as Domward recommending other Doms for Bella: even though I spit curse words at him through my computer monitor, I really think in his heart of broken hearts, this was Domward's misguided attempt to provide for Bella and to meet her needs. I think he knows that Bella really and truly is the Submissive type of personality. Remember that Bella had not had sex for six years prior to her relationship with Domward, and her previous encounters had been very unfulfilling for her. I guess Domward selflessly thought he would rather Bella be happy and fulfilled, even if she couldn't be so with him. It kind of reminds me of Breaking Dawn when Edward foolishly suggested to Jacob that he impregnate Bella if she'll give up the idea of trying to carry Edward's baby to term.
I'm also loving Dangerous Affections, In the Blink of an Eye, Creature of Habit, The Office, Life After Forks (yay, Amanda Beth), Madman's Mercy, and The List too. Damn all this uncompleted fanfiction!
